I’m a lifestyle portrait photographer based on Oahu, HII was born and raised on this beautiful island I call home. I’m married to my best friend who happens to be in a kick-ass local rock band. I’m a girl momma to the raddest little gals + bonus gal, and we recently added a pup to the crew. My husband and I being the artsy music lovers we are, gave our daughters musical middle names — Lyric, Rhythm, and Blues. Even our new pup has a musical name — Audio. I’m a type 4w5 enneagram (if you’re into that sort of thing), and that perfectly describes a lot about the artsy, aesthetic loving, authenticity craving, deep in my feels, creative, empathetic soul I am — which all translates into my work and what I do. It’s no secret that I have a slight home deocr, and matcha latte addiction. When I’m not doing the photography thing, you can find me jamming out with my lil family, planning my next home design project, content creating (funny videos) with my husband + family, manifesting + dreaming up our goals together, or singing my heart out with my wireless karaoke microphone.
When I first started out, I thought I had to shoot it all. as time went on and I experienced more life, I had a clearer vision of where the direction of my work was headed. WHEN I becAME a mother for the first time IT opened my eyes to a whole new set of feels (thanks hormones lol). It changed my world, and shifted my perspective of preserving such special moments in time. I started to SET BOUNDARIES FOR MYSELF AND NO LONGER SAID YES TO EVERYTHING. I HONED INTO WHAT I WAS TRULY PASSIONATE ABOUT — TELLING STORIES + CAPTURING AUTHENTIC CONNECTIONS, and PUTTING TOGETHER rad STYLED SHOOTS. I’m inspired by the love my husband and I share, the life we’ve built, and our girls. I’m inspired by world around us, colors, lyrics to a song, FASHION, Stories, textures, and warm natural light. I’m inspired by the people I work with and the connections they share. all in all, my work is a blend of everything I’ve experienced, everything I love, and everything i am. i HOPE IT SPEAKS FOR ITSELF AND SPEAKS TO YOU.
My love affair with photography began in my childhood. I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t taking photos, or just wanting to create something. I owe that creative side to my father who was a very talented musician of his time. before the digital age, I first learned to shoot analog like all children of the 80’s + 90’s. i Took a couple classes in highschool where I learned how to develop film + process prints in a darkroom. besides that, I have always been mostly self-taught -- especially in the digital age. after high school I tried to do the college thing, and it just wasn’t for me i guess. BUT I NEVER STOPPED LEARNING ABOUT PHOTOGRAPHY. I KNEW I wanted to pursue it, BUT SELF-DOUBT AND LACK OF SUPPORT in choosing that as a career held me back. IT WASN’T UNTIL MY husband and I began dating, that I had someone 100% in my corner. he was the one who encouraged me to pursue my dreams of doing this back when we were dating many moons agO. and well here we are 16 years later — Still in love, and making moves towards our dreams together.
Most of all I just want to create art with rad humans who I can connect, vibe, and dream with. And in doing so I hope to give you the gift of holding on to your special memories in the shape of a photograph.
